Hello all my long lost readers! I apologize for the unannounced hiatus however this winter hasn't exactly been the best for me. Career changes, newly single, family crap - needless to say I am all ready for spring! Here in New York it hasn't exactly felt like it yet, but a girl can dream! I should hopefully be heading to Miami in the coming months so at least I will get my dosage of sun and sand... Many thanks to all who commented on my previous post, I was very pleasantly surprised at the positive response/consensus! Since it is officially spring, I hereby refuse to post anything having to do with anything even slightly reminiscent of winter clothing. Am I thinking too far ahead? Maybe. Do I care? Nope.
First off, what is warm weather without madras?! (This is also to let the Preppy Princess know that I definitely, definitely do not dislike madras in any way shape or form.. or seersucker for that matter!! :-)

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!! Now, as we go back the to gym to shed the extra calories, and clean out our closets, I thought I should dedicate this post to the trends of 2007 that should stay dead and buried with the year.

Tory Burch shoes - sorry to everyone who is a fan, but it's overload! Enough already! The time has passed. Not to mention the 50 million knockoffs of that damned buckle floating around out there. Goodbye!

Wide leg trousers - look, I fully realize that we all come in many different shapes - my shape is "large tushie". However, that doesn't mean that we have to put potato sacks on each of our legs! 99% of these pants are just NOT flattering. Go out there, find a pair of pants that works with your shape and flaunt what you've got. And burn these!

Weird knitted hippie beanie hats: lets face it, these hats only look good on .2% of the population (this model included). Mostly everyone else looks like their hat is falling off their head. Enough!

Not a fashion trend, but still - Alli. It does not work - my friend tried it, and she ended up crapping her pants at work. When they say "uncontrollable bowel movements", they mean it. Dieting and the gym, my friends! Stay away from this stuff! (plus, who knows what they will find out about it down the line...)

Stacked heels: I have expounded on this previously. Femininity is a GOOD thing, lets keep it that way. I have two words: Doc Maartens. Oh yeah - sending shivers down your spine? That is how I feel about these clunky shoes. Please, let the new year bring lots of pretty dainty shoes that don't make you look like you have clown feet.

High heeled Oxfords: What? That's really all I can say. I never understood it when it came out, and I still don't understand it now. Bleh!

Ankle boots with skirts/dresses: NO, NO, NO! Whoever thought that combination would look good was really out of their gourd. I think the fashion mags just got bored and had to come up with a new combination of something. Notice I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Heinous!

Sequins: I am all for sequins for holidays/new years eve, but this season has been saturated! Anywhere you look for a cute short dress, your retinas are burned off by the glare! Whatever happened to colors? I love metallics, but geez.. After this season, I think the drag queens are going to see a serious shortage in fabric accoutrements...

The Balenciaga Motorcycle bag. I feel like this bag is already 5 years old. I want people to stop carrying it. I am sick of seeing it everywhere. And I do mean everywhere - the fakes on this puppy abound. Move on! There are better options out there!

And last, but most certainly not least, I will end this list by saying that ANYTHING that Britney Spears owns, wears, attempts to wear, touches, breathes on, thinks about, should definitely stay with 2007.
Sorry Brit. Here's hoping you get rid of the crazy in '08.... I'm not holding my breath.

For my favorite sample sale!! I'm keeping my ear to the ground, and I'm starting to get nervous. Twice a year, my beautiful addiction, DvF, has a sample sale. I hit up the one in summer, and boy did baby do good. However - the winter one is usually around this time - in about a week or so.. Yet I haven't heard any rumblings or received my usual flyer in the mail, and I'm getting antsy. I need a winter wrap dress, badddlyyy. I realized all of the wrap dresses I have have a significant amount of white in them, so that ix-nays them for anything too far past September. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting, and wishing, and hoping!

But speaking of outrageous bargains, I found this at Delias of all places! AMAZING!

Encroyable! I would totally buy this if I hadn't just bought a different toggle coat.. Can't really justify two navy blue toggle coats in my life.. but definitely thinking about this as a gift!

Also in the outerwear department, I just bought this at American Eagle and I am in LOVE with it! They were flying off the rack so I would advise to buy fast - it is super snuggly (made of sweatshirt material, but very heavy and warm) and looks amazing on:

In this day and age of fast food (in every sense of the word), cell phones, and living modern life at breakneck speed - I am thankful for this nationwide holiday that allows us to all sit down, slow down, eat a home-cooked meal, and be with our families.

This is my brain. This is my brain thinking about all things toggle. Ok, so I know I already bought a toggle coat in my last post, but I'm really kinda becoming obsessed. I even have the Boyfriend on the bandwagon. It's really a problem. I go into stores, I look at things, and then, out of the corner of my eye, I'll see one of those beautiful little oblong toggles attached to something, ANYTHING, hell it could even be a pair of socks, and the next thing I know I hear the register close and I'm on the street. Toggle blackouts, it's not good folks.

Let's start out with an item for the members of the male species:

I am waging a war. A war against clunky, dumb looking stacked heels. I mean honestly, who does this look good on? Chyna? Brooke Hogan? The shoes this season are so klutzy looking, with these giant ugly heels. I'm sorry, but I'll take my shoes with a side of femininity, please. The heels don't have to be sky-high, but can't they be pretty? And not look like they were made for a transvestite clown?

On the same shoe note, I am also not the biggest fan of the whole "bootie" craze for this season *insert screams from diehard fashionistas here*. BUT - that being said, I did find a FABULOUS bootie that I am obsessed with, that I also just got on SALE!

They also come in black, also on sale for $70 - and since I bought two pairs in the store, I got an additional 20% off! Cha-ching! They look terrific with skinny jeans (CANNOT deal with the bootie+skirt look) and actually are very comfortable..

My next purchase today was a definite steal - I had a 15% off coupon from American Eagle Outfitters and I decided to pop in for a look around - wow, am I glad I did. THIS is what I picked up:

I've been away for far too long and I won't bore you all with the excuses. Although (just this one) my computer is on it's last legs and frankly I can't afford to buy one at the moment... Because I have to buy boots instead.. ahem... Well summer has turned to fall (I think? It was 73 degrees yesterday...) and with fall comes fall clothing.. which at this rate I will be wearing in January!

On a final note, I am seriously disappointed in the handbags this season. I feel like most of the designers have regurgitated old designs in new colors and fabrics. Not cutting it, at all. Very upset. Something better change soon or I'm going to file a complaint with Marc Jacobs. In the meantime, this D&G Buckle Bag ($1,350) isn't bad but I'm not jumping up and down about it.

I heart the Simpsons! And I think this tee is the perfect alternative to all of those "Little Miss" tees that everyone and their mother has... and it's also a great price at $15!

So I definitely was bad yesterday.. bad bad bad.. I was a little too overjoyed at Urban - they got in all this amazing stuff for fall (and usually I am very picky about Urban, but I have to say that either they have a new designer/new buyer or both, because the stuff is super cute!)

Hello all, long time no blog. To sum up my trip - no Abbotts, because the Boyfriend was being a bastard, as usual. Hmph. I did have lobster, but it wasn't quite the same as the whole Abbott's experience.

So here is a strange thing that happened to me recently, wondering if any of you have had similar bizarre experiences. I bought two metallic doctor bags from Intuition a couple of months ago, and only started using them recently. I had my silver one when I was caught in the rain and the bag got wet - and when I went into have coffee with a friend and get out of the rain, I realized my bag stank like dead, rotting fish. I'm really not exagerrating here. I turned to her and said "my bag smells like a pound of fish died in it and then got microwaved" to which she replied "you're so silly, let me smell it" and promptly gagged. When I got home, I smelled my gold one, and there was definitely hints of Eau de Spoiled Salmon. I've been airing both bags out on my terrace, and finally decided to febreze the inside of the silver one - I just hope that now it doesn't become a combo of rotting fish and febreze, then I would probably have to burn it.

On another bag note, I would like to voice my frustration to the world. I stood on line last Thursday to get the Anya Hindmarch "I'm not a plastic bag". I stood on line for over an hour, got RIGHT in front of the store, and THEY SOLD OUT. ARRRRRRRGGGHHH!!!! Okay I feel better now.

Almost officially summer!

I'm a bad, bad blogger. I know. I wish I had enough time to keep on top of this! I'm leaving on Friday for a week long vacation (hallelujah) and perhaps will have some time to sit back with a laptop in front of a pool with a drink (ahhhh..) and catch up some more! But I've got to tell you - I am most looking forward to the one trip that really symbolizes the start of summer for me. And that, my friends, is the trip to Abbotts Lobster in Noank, CT. If you are ever in that neighborhood, it is WELL worth the trip! Usually I get there via car, but this time I'm actually going by boat! So exciting! This little place is tucked down the end of a little road, and they have the best lobsters, clams, crabcakes, etc. It's not really a restaurant, more of a pick up your lobsters at a counter and sit down with plastic cutlery. But you can't beat the quality and the view.. It's BYOB but there's a cute little package store just up the road... I can't wait - that really signals the beginning of summer for me..

Since I'm going to be going in the evening, and by boat (windy, ouch) I think I will have to dress relatively warm. So this gives me the perfect time to showcase one of my new purchases that I grabbed up at Bloomies a couple of months ago, the Aqua Deep V-Neck :
(it looks alot better when worn with a nice pair of jeans as opposed to a bathing suit - don't know why they did that, weird) I also got it in white, but on the website it shows the stripe as red and green - it's actually red white and blue.

I can't wait to break out some of my summer stock of clothes this coming week. And of course, there's always excuses to buy more. Here are some things I've had my eye on:

I AM SO AGGRAVATED RIGHT NOW! This Addison spin-off is TERRIBLE! And the writers must have known it would be terrible, otherwise they wouldn't be FORCING Grey's fans to sit through 90% of the bad acting and bad writing to get our fix of 10% of the real Grey's!

Poor Taye Diggs, he's the only one who is relatively ok in this, but I can already hear the toilet flushing on this show... And Amy Brennemen as a west coaster? That's the biggest joke of all. You couldn't get a paler, dowdier, more cynical east-coaster for that role if you tried.

AAAHH! I keep switching the channel to other things, and then switching back and missing the real show... Writers - I HATE YOU FOR MAKING ME SIT THROUGH THIS CRAP IN ORDER TO WATCH GREY'S!

Well hello everyone... I realize I've been completely MIA, and I wish I could say the reasons were good, but they are not. I actually had 4 close friends lose relatives in the space of a week, one of whom was lost in the Virginia Tech tragedy. It's been a sobering reminder of how short and important life is, and how few moments we really have on this earth. On a positive note, it's reaffirmed my latest life choice to pursue the career and life I want while I'm young - life is too short to waste doing things you don't love.

But onto happier thoughts - the weather has been warm and beautiful and it looks like summer is right around the corner.. so onto my long list of recent finds to make up for my absence!

Well, my Victoria's Secret striped dress finally got to me yesterday, very exciting - the XS fits and I am pining for summer so I can actually wear it, dammit! I have to keep thinking of summer, to keep from being depressed - talk about depressing, I just found out that my company hasn't deducted City Tax from my paychecks the entire time I've been working for them. Because they "didn't know where I lived". I've just been working there for ages, but they have no idea where I live, just that I'm a New York State resident. Uh - huh. Basically, no refund for me, I have to pay them. I was just on the phone w/Payroll screaming for about 20 minutes, so I am in need of some retail therapy, before I have to give the rest of my $$$ to the IRS. (Thanks for the good luck wishes with the new job search, it is much appreciated!)

This bathing suit has reignited my nautical obsession. I think its SO HOT - but I don't know how I'd look in it, only because I find bandeau tops to be extremely unflattering:

Hello my pretties.. The reason for my recent bouts of non-posting is due to the fact that I am currently attempting to switch jobs, interviewing and blah blah blah, which has taken up 90% of my free time and sapped my mental and emotional energy. The other 10% I manage to spend sleeping. This process really stinks, but I definitely need to make the switch. I've had a streak of bad luck when it comes to jobs, for some reason I guess I must have this internal "psycho boss and coworkers" magnet. And it's very, very strong.

But I think this week should be considerably calmer (now that I said that, it won't be) so hopefully I can return to blogging regularly.

Next up - Lisa, I'm so bummed about the cardigan from Ben Sherman! Story of my life - I always wait and marinate on stuff like that, and then when I get around to deciding to buy it, it's gone! On the upside, I did shop the Bloomie's private sale last week and I got three fab sweaters from Aqua - two are cricket sweater style, and one is a navy double breasted blazer-sweater. So I guess I made up for it. I also decided to buy the Kenneth Jay Lane white flower ring from Pink Mascara that I posted about previously.

Incredibly enough, there is a nylon hammock in there that can handle up to 265 lbs! I am a big fan of hammocks in the summertime, and I love the idea of a portable one, to whip out anytime on a beach or in someone's backyard who has trees to spare.

Now something adorable to pack your portable hammock in for those summer weekends - these Jaye Hersch weekenders from Intuition (plain - $100, monogrammed - $120). The shapes and styles remind me of Goyard bags, but at much better prices! As shocking as it may seem to all of you, I do not have any monogrammed bags in my possession - yes, even my LL Bean totes are plain (gasp!). Another purchase of mine that I did manage to find a picture of on the internet is Jeffrey Campbell's Devine flat in Gold ($74). I also bought it in a Pucci inspired print, but I can't find that anywhere - it also comes in black, silver, tan and a leopard print!
I thought it was very cute - I was looking for a metallic flat, but every one out there seems to have some version of the Tory Burch buckle, and I like being different. They are very comfortable, but the sizing was weird - I ended up taking a 9 1/2 and am usually an 8 1/2 in his shoes! I've actually been finding that most shoes I try on aren't fitting me as they usually do, some of my friends have noticed this too.. Are all the shoe manufacturers changing their sizing lately or what?

To buy or not to buy, that is the question!

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!!

Wow! Life suddenly got ridiculously busy and I've barely had time for myself, let alone time to sit in front of my computer... which, in retrospect, is probably a good idea for my wallet. I really missed blogging! I kept seeing different things in stores to post about, and now that I have time to post I've forgotten 99% of them! But don't worry, this will still be chock full of goodies.

Hooray! It's warm out! Even if it's only going to last one week, I finally get to break out some of my new spring clothes. Granted, sometimes I go a little overboard, and end up freezing my tush off outside, but dammit I look cute doing it!

So I found these virtual pets and decided to get a little hamster for my blog. I was never allowed to have one as a child because they smelled so bad. But this little guy doesn't smell! You can feed him a strawberry and he runs around in his wheel. (I know, I'm a dork.)

On a random note - I'm now convinced that Starbucks puts drugs in their coffee. I can't stop drinking caramel machiattos. Can. not. stop. I need a Starbucks patch, or machiatto gum, or something!

Girls - if you can, high-tail it to H&M! I went last night and their new spring stuff is starting to trickle in, and it's adorable. Great pastel plaid buttondowns, heart print pleated skirts, lightweight argyle sweaters, seersucker pants and matching jacket - get there while this lasts! I could hardly find stuff in my size and they JUST got it all in! If I can get my camera to work I will take pictures of some of my purchases!

In other news, found this great Ashley Jacket at Abercrombie ($128) in pink - although it looks kinda Nantucket Red to me..
Also, I've been looking for a large red anchor necklace to go with this nautical red and white striped shirt I have. Sofar, no luck. But I did come across this Nautical Necklace from Fred Flare ($12) and have fallen in looove...

Talk about a perfect color + symbol combo!

My silver Yellow Box flip flops arrived from Zappos today.. They are even cuter in person, but I'm a little worried about the size. The 8/5 fits perfectly - a little too perfectly, as in my heel is just about to fall off the back. So I grabbed up the last size 9 online just now. They're all out in the gold, waaah. I guess I will have to keep searching the net - Kitson has them, but they're more expensive, you pay for shipping, and they don't do refunds.. boo..

My happiness over this wonderful weather this weekend (including dragging spring shoes and clothes out of the back of my closet) has abruptly ended. No warm weather for me. Furry boots, back on. Boooo.

But, a girl can still dream, right? So onto my hunt for summer sandals. I desperately need a pair of gold and silver flip flops, to replace ones that I've had for 2 summers (from the Gap, no less!). I don't like plastic/rubber flip flops, the ones from the Gap had leather soles and plain triangle shaped front that was gold/silver. So last night I found these Yellow Box Fortune Sandals ($45) on Zappos - they're a little, well, bling, but I think they are different and cute:
They come in silver as well.. I think I might order them, hang onto them, and thanks to Zappos 365-day return policy, if I come across something better in the months ahead, I'll return them!

Ever since I've gotten over the ebola virus or whatever was plaguing me, I've been slammed with playing catchup in all aspects of life.. Hopefully now things will calm down and I can keep up with blogging.

So I recently got very excited about a new men's cologne for the Boyfriend. The Boyfriend currently has switched from Acqua di Gio (which I liked) to Burberry Brit, which I despise, and he switched only because he liked the name. Flipping through my newest issue of Allure, I came across Lacoste Essential for men. SO YUMMY! Unfortunately the women's version, to me, smells like Play -Doh. Really does! So I don't recommend that at all. But this is definitely one of the best colognes I've ever smelled in a long time. Very fresh and summery - very clean smelling, which is always a plus (especially when they aren't). It's the first time I've ever gotten excited about a cologne, and can't wait until his birthday in a couple of months to happily rescue my nose..

Next up, a couple of finds from a strange website known as Alternative Outfitters. They carry "vegan" clothing (I didn't know such a thing existed, besides no leather of course) but actually found this whale tote for $34.99:

Last night's Oscars was eh. I thought most of it was cheesy and boring. Ellen was alright, she started off strong but started fizzling halfway through. The highlight for me was the sound effect chorus - I thought that was so crazy! I don't understand why they're leaving 45 seconds for speeches - I mean, maybe we don't need to hear the costume designer drone on for 3 minutes, but they should have let Jennifer Hudson speak! If you've ever seen "Oscar's Greatest Moments" videos, most of the "moments" are people's acceptance speeches.. We don't need to see random montages of movies that make no sense, just let the people make jokes/thank their agents/cry!

My favorite best dressed, in no particular order: Reese Witherspoon, Penelope Cruz, Helen Mirren, and Diane Keaton. YES, Diane Keaton. No one is talking about her, and I can't even find her picture online! It's about time she stopped dressing like Annie Hall on acid, and her dress was elegant and flattering. I hope someone pays attention to the fact that she looked amazing last night, for a change.

I've had the worst cold for the past couple of days, therefore why I was MIA. But I'm finally feeling well enough to sit in front of my computer and blog for a while, instead of lying in bed dying... Which isn't too bad on a snowy night like tonight, but the first part of the Oscars will be boring because the acting awards aren't until the end.

I've found a couple of cute things online lately, which I have made mental note of until my shopping diet is over.

I like the fact that you can choose pretty much any color combo you want, and it's different and unique from the millions of ribbon belts out there, but still very preppy.

Shopping diet, and some hits for spring & summer..

I thought I would try to give up shopping, in an attempt to be, ahem, "fiscally responsible". Yeah. It's not going so well. I haven't bought anything yesterday or today, but I've definitely seen about 20 things I would really like to get. Including the following from J. Crew - I'm not always a fan of the crabs/lobsters/whales/etc alllll over clothing, but on these critter polos, I love the pink hippos and the black anchors! ($49.50 each)

There is no way this shopping diet of mine is going to stick. I know what will happen - I'll end up saving a bunch of money, only to say "okay, 3 weeks are over" and then I will probably go nuts buying everything I've seen and liked over the past 3 weeks.

Onto more happy dreams of spring.. I'm craazy about all metallic handbags, and I've purchased two metallic doctor bags from Intuition (I would post the pic, but they sold out & are no longer on the site - I'll take a picture and post when they arrive in April). The "Miroir" line from Louis Vuitton, however, is the ultimate - I love the speedy in silver and gold:

I also kinda like this new Fendi bag, although Fendi is probably one of my least favorite designer labels, because I don't like their logo.. but I think this Crossword Grande Mirrored Bag (at $2,230) is really cool, and if you see it in person, it really sparkles:
Last but not least, what I think will be one of "the" dresses for spring.. It's been all over websites and fashion mags.. That being said, "mini" does not begin to describe it. I don't think it's physically possible to bend, sit, or even move in most directions without flashing the world. There has been alot of buzz about this dress, and I love eyelet, but I do wish they made it in other colors. It's the Milly A-Line Mini Dress ($338):
Even though I do think this dress is cute, in the price range that this dress is going for, I would probably go for a DvF dress over this one. She has to be one of my favorite dress designers (along with Cavalli) and I think her dresses are ultra feminine, timeless, classic, and extremely sexy. I especially love her vintage prints. One of the ones I like this spring is the Avara Wrap Dress in Large Scattered Ginko Green ($365):
I looked in my closet the other day, and realized that close to 40% of the dresses that I own are various shades of green.. I really need to start branching out on color.

I really should have taken an umbrella today, because the amount of water dripping off of the buildings and melting in the streets was unreal! The streets were really disgusting, and being that all the brown and black snow was liquifying all over my feet, I decided to take some action. Shopping action, of course. And I'm thrilled with my newest purchase, rain boots by Chooka:
This is the only picture online, and it's not a great angle, but it's called "Sailor City" and online they are selling it for $69.95, but I found it in a store for $49! Score! The anchor on the front and the "LOVE" graphic make it look alot like an Ed Hardy boot, but I think it's cuter. And I could definitely wear it in the spring with a jean skirt & leggings without looking stupid.

My other purchase of the day was finally caving and buying this dress I had been eyeing from Victoria's Secret. I've never actually bought any clothing from them before, just underwear in the stores. If Victoria's Secret put their clothing (and especially bathing suits) in their stores, they would make alot more money. So we'll see how this Striped Smocked Dress ($49) will fit when it finally gets to me in April..
Can't wait to pair it with my strappy gold espadrille-heeled sandals from Banana Republic from last summer, and a straw bag with gold trim.. Maybe the Kate Spade Tinsbury Monaco - but I feel like this dress would do better with something that looks a little more beachy and informal.

TGIPD... Thank God it's Presidents Day! It was about time for a long weekend. Although I must admit, I'm planning on spending the entirety of this day indoors.. I really don't like duking it out at stores that are having sales. It's just not fun for me. I love getting deals and bargains, but I like doing it without throwing elbows and getting my eye poked out by flying hangers. I was going to attempt to be active and go to the gym, but #1 - it's freezing outside, and #2 my friend went and called me to let me know everyone and their mother had the same idea, and there's a 2 hour wait for an elliptical. So instead I've been sitting here playing around with Photoshop.. as you can see..

I did however make a recent purchase which I am so excited to wear. It's the Juicy Hooded Fleece Dress ($128) in Navy (it also comes in white and green, but I liked the blue the best). It's really comfortable, and actually looks alot better in person than on this model. Can't wait to wear it to the beach or just bumming around this summer..

I also found two more Juicy outfits that I really like.. This Cropped Jacket & Cuffed Shorts combo (jacket - $298, shorts $148):
I like the way they put the whole look together, but the shorts could be iffy for me... I don't really have Kate Moss thighs to pull it off. But I love the jacket - I have a similar one that was handed down to me by my mom, a vintage navy cropped jacket with a peter pan collar.. But I like the buttons on the Juicy one.

I also like the Juicy Tennis Accessories outfit, minus the shirt (jacket $158, skirt $88):
I wish that the pink was darker, because I think it has the possibility of washing me out. I'll have to swing by the Juicy store to check it out in person (I'll take any excuse to go there that I can get!)

My new pet!

I am so excited about this.. I got a late Valentine's Day present from someone very special, and I am ecstatic! It's the Porte-Monnaie Billets Viennois wallet from Louis Vuitton, and I love love love it.. and it really is my new pet, but not in a disgusting Jessica Simpson-y way (her bizarre obsession with her Murakami Speedy). But I must admit I have been molesting it ever since I unwrapped it.. It's the perfect size for me, stores all of my crap without bulging, and I love the French purse style.. sigh.. it was a good V-Day after all.. It's also really nice when someone takes enough notice of something you like and gets it for you.. Aah.. Well, while I write the rest of this post, I will just sit here petting it...
Moving on..

I found these two things at Urban Outfitters.. This Lux Plaid Button Golf Skirt for $38 is kinda cute, and I like the shoes they paired with it - I saw them in the store, but not online. Just don't be scared by the extreme skinniness and freakishly long arms of this model -
I would pair this with a dusty pink polo or tank top. I like the plaid because it doesn't look like you're secretly wearing your high school uniform - and I love pink and navy combos.

Also at Urban, these adorable boat shoes for $28.. Can't get enough of nautical! (you're going to see alot of this trend in coming posts, so I'm just going to stop making excuses for my obsession now, haha)

Last but not least, I stumbled upon this really interesting website, Planet Jill. Apparently I am behind the times on this one, being that Britney (who now resembles Mr. Clean - so sad) and other celebs discovered this a long time ago. Anyhoo, it's a great jewelry company that makes custom necklaces, bracelets and keychains with any photo you want. The keychain is $70, and the necklace (with 1 photo charm) is $90, which I think are fantastic prices for such personalized gifts!

I think it's a really creative way to display loved ones, be it children, significant others, or even pets! (And no, I am not going to get a necklace with a picture of my new wallet around my neck.) You can get more than one charm, in black and white or color. And they will crop it any way you want! I am thinking of getting a necklace for my grandmother for Mother's Day with all of her grandchildren on it, in separate charms.

I think my wallet is purring...

A chocolate hangover..

Is what I have, after my well meaning mother bought me about 2 lbs of my favorite chocolates: dark chocolate - covered marzipan, orange creams, and Italian creams for Valentine's day.. They're from my favorite chocolatier, Aigner Chocolates (formerly Krause's Candy Kitchen). All of their chocolate is made on the premises, and it's a family run business that's been around for ages... Yumm... That *whoosh* sound you might have just heard was my "diet" officially flying out the window..

Let me start off by thanking Melissa at Perfectly Pink, Mrs. P from Chic and the CT Prep for sending me some love and letting me know I am not alone out here in Bloggerland talking to myself! I read all of your great blogs, and finally was inspired to start one myself.. So thanks for the support!

Because of this wonderful weather we have been having in the northeast, I have been living in constant fear of developing what Perez Hilton likes to call "zombie hands". I get a weekly manicure, but I have been pretty delinquent moisturizing the rest of the time. Well, move over Neutrogena Norwegian Formula, the real best hand cream has just stepped up... and it's Fresh's Sugar Blossom Hand Treatment from Sephora for $38. This has to be the best hand cream investment I have made. I've loved this for a while - in fact, whenever I would pass a Sephora, I used to go in, find this, use the tester, and leave.. teehee.. But I finally bought it when my hands started getting dry, cracked, and bleeding - it is really light, non-greasy, and has this great lemony smell that is not overpowering at all, and your hands will feel like they just got out of paraffin.. I highly recommend it!

Being that summer is right around the corner (in my ever-optimistic mind), I've jumped on the bandwagon to be obsessed with all things nautical. I'm glad to see this preppy trend becoming more in the mainstream! I found these cute braided sandals at the Gap for $30, but they're currently having a 20% off sale online until the 19th - enter the code SPRING02 at checkout. These sandals come in black and light olive, but navy blue is my favorite. I wish they made them in red!
I tried them on in the store and they look really cute on - especially with a pair of cuffed jeans.

Now that I've found a nautical bikini (the Le French), nautical sandals, it's time for a nautical beach bag.. I've found these fun four options at Espadrilles Etc, a company that is based in Spain. These are the Estay bags in navy or red, at $135 each:
I love the big rope handles, and the espadrille bottom. Can't decide which color I like better.. These next ones are the Tesoro bag for $112 - they're definitely campy, but I think it's fun! Plus it combines metallics and the nautical theme:
My desperation for summer is really starting to show. I slipped and fell on the ice today in front of a travel agency - do you think that's a sign?

Valentine's Day, more food-related jewelry, and snow!

It finally snowed! The fact that it had to be today of all days really kills me, though. I had some serious plans tonight that I'm sure are going to end up being cancelled.

But, all that aside -

YHAPPY VALENTINE'S DAYY!!

No better way to start off this sweet holiday than with a couple of sweet necklaces.. I think that my attempt at dieting is psychologically backfiring, and I'm now starting to wear food around my neck! These adorable cupcakes and ice cream cones are by iHotto for $35 each:

I think I might have to get one.. I caved and bought the strawberries yesterday - I got a large red and a large pink, just in time for V-Day!

February is always a weird shopping month. It's the remnants of winter, and the very beginnings of spring. I hate shopping this time of year, because it's always around now (i.e. the first real snow) that I realize that I need something like winter boots, and of course all the stores are sold out, or everything is on sale, and nothing in my size. But with this season begins the trickling in of new stuff for spring and summer, which I always feel somewhat silly buying because, lets face it, there's 4 inches of snow on the ground.

That being said, I'm crazy about this new bag from Kate Spade. The "Tisbury Monaco" bag is $325, and I think I'm going to have to get it.

I'm in desperate need of a straw/wicker bag, and I think this might be it. I bought a great white and gold woven clutch (the "Havana Lawnchair") from Kate Spade last summer, which had this adorable pink and green polka dot lining. This has a plain purple lining, which is just fine by me - I found a doctor bag that I loved last year, but it had the ugliest lining I'd ever seen. It really looked like someone threw up in the bag.

I think this could definitely be the best alternative to a plain straw bag that I've seen sofar. It also comes in orange and white leather, but I think the gold is the most versatile. Not to mention that although everyone is saying that metallics are "in" again for spring/summer, I think that you can always use metallic pieces in those seasons, no matter what the stupid fashion magazines say.

I just saw some poor guy take a huge digger outside on the street in the snow. On that note, lets move on to bathing suits, shall we? I just discovered Island Company and I LOVE it! Adorable bathing suits at great prices! Lately most of my bathing suits, besides the Vix ones at Bloomies, I find at Old Navy - they fit great, and I just bought the cutest preppy navy and kelly green one for 30 bucks!

But now that I've found these, I'm definitely going to have to order them. My favorites sofar are the Rugby stripe bikini ($92):

But honestly I like most of the bikinis! it's going to be so hard to decide which ones to get...
The boardshorts for guys are nice too, but I would recommend them only for the taller men in your lives- I find sometimes that trunks that come to the knee on short guys tends to make them look pretty stubby.

Well, I don't know if anyone is actually reading this besides me, but have a happy valentine's day everyone, and if you're in the northeast, stay warm and bundled up.. all the while dreaming of bathing suits, sun, and sand.... Sigh.....

So I'd better make it good! Just a disclaimer, I'm completely new to blogging, so sorry if this site is looking a bit wonky, I'm trying to play with the HTML and all these other things (aka I have no idea what I am doing)... If anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know!

Firstly - trying to decide how I feel about the new trend in fruit necklaces - the only kind I really like are the strawberries. These ones are from Intuition and are $25 a pop..

I love the red, white and pink ones.. I've found a great little jewelry store that has practically the same things for $20 each, also in varying sizes.. But I'm not sure - I was going to get a big red and pink strawberry, with a little white one. What do you all think?

I also found these boots - let me start by saying I'm not an Ugg fan AT ALL. But I think that these Koolaburra boots are pretty cool, and they appeal to the rock&roll side of me.. Tatu had some great ones last year - more of the boot had a painted design - but this year they were pretty dissapointing. New this year is Kettle Black, at Montecito Sports

The boots that I really wanted all winter long were these cable knit sweater guys from Delias, they were on sale for $50 when I found them:
But they never had my size in brown (they also came in grey) and I kept checking the site, but now they're all gone.. I will occasionally look on eBay but it's a lost cause... Sigh.. I loved these boots..
